FMLA

Effective January 1, 2018

As you are likely aware, the New York Paid Family Leave Act was effective January 1, 2018. The act states that employers are required to provide job-protected paid time off for eligible employees.

Eligibility under the PFL is based upon 26 consecutive weeks of employment, where the employee worked 20 hours or more per week, or 175 days of employment for part-time employees. The act requires that employers with one or more employees provide coverage beginning January 1, 2018 for those eligible employees. NewYork Paid Family Leave provides job-protected paid time off for:

  • Bond with a newly born, adopted or fostered child,
  • Care for a close relative with a serious health condition, or
  • Assist with family situations when a family member is deployed abroad on active military service.

The Board of Trustees of the General Building Laborers’ Local 66 Welfare Fund (“Welfare Fund”) are pleased to notify you that at this time coverage is being provided and paid for by the Welfare Fund.

As the employer, there is no need to obtain a policy for the NY PFL for employers that are covered by the Welfare Fund. In addition, no payroll deduction from your employee’s paycheck should be made.

Please note, that for employees for which contributions are made on their behalf, and those benefits are reciprocated to another welfare fund pursuant to a reciprocal agreement, that employee is not considered a participant in the Welfare Fund and wilt not be eligible for NY PFL coverage from the Local 66 Welfare Fund.

As claims and applications for benefits are made the Welfare Fund will seek your cooperation to verify eligibility for this benefit.

In late 2018 the Board of Trustees will review the funding requirements and arrangements for the 2019 calendar year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 631-454-2330. Further details on the Family Paid Leave Act can be found at: https://www.ny.gov/programs/new-york-state-paid-family-leave.

Sincerely,

Allen Marmor

FRINGE BENEFITS

**FOR MEMBERS WORKING OUTSIDE OF NASSAU & SUFFOLK COUNTY – CLICK TO VIEW RECIPROCAL AGREEMENTS

In order to provide a simple, efficient process for Employers to remit contributions to the Fund Office, the Local 66 Trustees implemented a new electronic remittance system called ISSi-Remit, effective for all Employers on January 1, 2016.  ISSi-Remit replaces the Stamp Program, and Employers will know provide each laborer a voucher instead of stamps when they purchase benefit hours. If you receive stamps for periods prior to January 1, 2016, you should submit them to the Fund Office.

ISSi-Remit accurately captures, manages, and transfers remittance data electronically, allowing Employers to submit reports and make payments online to the Fund Office. This secure, easy-to-use module eliminates duplicate entry of remittance data and saves time and money for both the Funds and Employers.  When the Employer has submitted the reports and remitted payment, the Members’ benefit hours will be updated the next day.

Click here to view your benefits.  You will be prompted to provide your email address and to choose a security question and answer.  If you later forget your password, you can click on the “Forgot my password” link on the main page and, once you answer the security question, a new temporary password will be emailed to the email address you provided.  You will then be able to login with the temporary password which you can then change to whatever you wish.  You will also be able to update your “profile” if you need to change your email address or wish to change your security question.

If you cannot access your on-line benefits, you can contact Louise Perugini via her email address at lperugini@l66funds.com or Annette Read via her email address aread@l66funds.com.  They can also be reached by calling the Fund Office at 631-454-2330. Louise’s extension is 1014, and Annette’s extension is 1013.

If you have not received benefit vouchers for the hours you worked, please contact Mike Porciello, Wendy Heid or Adam Glaser at the Fund Office.
